This pendant is a piece of the Campo del Cielo Meteorite, which was first discovered in 1572 by Spanish explorers in what is now the Province of Chaco, Argentina. Scientists believe it originated within the Asteroid Belt located between Mars and Jupiter prior to the formation of the planet Earth, 4.5 billion years ago. Of all the meteorites that fall to Earth, only about 5% are composed of iron. Of these, the Campo del Cielo Meteorite is prized as one of the most beautiful by both private collectors and museums worldwide. Surprisingly heavy for its size, this is a wearable piece of outer space that, in our opinion, is more rare and special than a diamond. Chain is oxidized brass. C-clasp closure and endcap are brass. Meteorite is Iron (Coarse Octahedrite IA).
